Ascorbic Acid developer (Dr C.T. Blood's formula)
British Journal of Photography 10/11/99

Solution A

Ascorbic acid 10.0g
Phenidone 1.0g
Water to 1 litre

Use deionised water, not tap water, since impurites can reduce the life of the solution. Dissolve the ascorbic acid, the add the Phenidone; warm slightly and stir patiently until the Phenidone has dissolved. Filter and bottle. Shelf life approx. 3 months.

Solution B

Sodium metaborate 87.5g
Water to 1 litre

Tap water may be used for B, which will keep indefinitely.

Note: you may find it easier to start with 750ml of water, mix in the chemicals, then make up to 1 litre - Barry.

Just before use, mix 8 parts water with 1 part A and 1 part B, in that order.

Suggested exposure; +1 to +11/2 manufacturers indicated film speed (Test!)
